What size do I need (2” vs 2-5/16”)?

Check your coupler size stamped on your trailer or measure the ball opening.

What is the difference between flat lip, round lip and square lip?

  • Flat lip: straight edge coupler
  • Round lip: curved edge coupler
  • Square lip: squared edge with more defined corners

    Choosing the correct type is essential for a proper and secure fit.

Will it fit my trailer?

AMPLock products are custom-fit. If your coupler matches the model, it will fit securely.

That means the lock is designed to fit specific coupler types precisely. It prevents tool insertion between lock and coupler and holds the guard securely in place

There is always a key-shaped tag included with your first order. Your key code is printed on it.

Can I reorder keys?

Yes — additional keys can be ordered through our website. You will need your lock’s unique key code, found on your key-shaped tag.
If you no longer have the tag but still have a key, you can send us a photo of both side and we’ll help identify the code.

I lost my keys, what do I do?

If you have your key code, you can order replacement keys 

If your code is registered, contact us and we’ll assist you quickly.t

If you have any original packaging, key tags, or purchase records, please check them for your key code.

If you don’t have your code, a locksmith can safely open the lock. We can then help you replace the cylinder.
For security reasons, a new lock may be required.

Yes — select the Keyed Alike option at checkout to use the same key for multiple locks.

You can also order additional locks later using the same key code before checkout.
Your key code is required to match an existing key.

How to lock/unlock?

Insert the key and turn approximately ¾ turn, then pull on the lock to release and remove it.

Troubleshooting

Key doesn't turn properly

  • Verify your key: it should have “REAL” engraved on it
  • The key should turn about ¾ of a turn to unlock
  • If it turns only ¼ turn: the key may be incorrect or damaged
  • If it turns partially (¼–¾): clean and lubricate the lock (non-silicone + compressed air)

    If it turns fully or spins: contact us or a locksmith (internal damage possible)

Lock won't open

  • Verify your key: it should have “REAL” engraved on it
  • Ensure the key turns about ¾ of a turn
  • Debris or dirt may be preventing proper operation — clean with compressed air and use a dry (non-silicone) lubricant

Do not force. Apply lubricant and gently move the key.

Key turns but doesn't unlock

The cylinder may not be aligned. Retry and ensure full rotation.

Rust / dirt issue

Clean with a non-silicone lubricant and use compressed air to remove debris.

Minimal maintenance is required, but regular care helps ensure optimal performance:

  • Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth
  • Lubricate monthly with a dry (non-silicone) lubricant
  • Use compressed air to remove debris if needed

Winter usage

Cold weather can affect any lock, so regular maintenance is recommended:

  • Before winter presoak your AMPLock with all components open in antifreeze solution during 1-night
  • Apply a dry (non-silicone) lubricant to prevent freezing
  • Use compressed air to remove moisture and debris
  • Keep the keyway clean and dry
  • Avoid forcing the key if the lock feels stiff

    If the lock is frozen, gently warm the key or lock before use.
