Fast shipping and matched keys to another amp lock I have on the hitch ball. Very well made there is some slop on my trailer and yes the locking pin is smaller than a puck lock I replaced. Now the puck lock I replaced you can see a video online it is faster to unlock with a pick than a key. This lock actually has a key that is resistant to picking. And as far as the space goes by the nature of a enclosed trailer just sawsall the lever off and it doesn't matter what kind of lock you have. Also this lock is a good price compared to a quality puck lock. I do think this has the look of just move along to the basic low life idiot thief. Plus for the undetermined thief as much protection that you can buy for your enclosed trailer. The other thing it has if some determined and higher IQ thief gets into your trailer insurance cannot argue that you were not locked up very well. Also to protect you trailer you need to lock it so it isn't easy to hook on to it and haul it away. If that happens the thief has all the time in the world to get into your trailer
Personally all enclosed trailers look like they would be very easy to just cut a whole in the side of the trailer as well. A thief doesn't care what the trailer looks like if they want what you are storing inside of the trailer the only time they care about that is if the intend to sell or use your trailer after they get your stuff out of it. Portable battery operated tools has made securing trailers very hard it is no longer just forced entry that one is trying to protect against. Anyhow I believe this is one of the best locks available for an enclosed trailer that money can buy. And less money than a security padlock and even less money than a security puck lock. Your lock is only as good as what it is attached too something to keep in mind. Picture is how I lock the hitch up on a trailer a ball lock, a bolt protection lock so the the hitch is not unbolted and changed and a hitch pin lock so the ball coupler cannot not be opened and the safety chains cable as locked up as well. On more expensive trailers i am thinking about a security chain around the tandem wheels. Parked inside of a camera monitored yard with a high fence around it. The idea or ten percent of the cost of the trailer in locking it is not a bad thought. A thousand dollar trailer doesn't require the level that an eight thousand dollar trailer does which doesn't require the amount of security that a fifty thousand dollar trailer does.

Trailer Door Lock

Let me start off saying that amp lock makes excellent, well built, solid locks for theft prevention (I own two other kinds of their trailer tongue locks).I am somewhat disappointed with this hasp lock as it has so much "slop" or play in it, giving so much unnecessary exposure to the hasp. You can see in the pictures I've provided how easily a Sawzall metal cutting blade can simply slide behind the lock itself and someone could just go at it and cut away the hasp.

Trailer Door Lock

Extremely heavy duty lock, covering any points of access for bolt cutters to get into. Well thought-out. Ordered three locks but unfortunately they came with all different Keys instead of one key working for all three. And unfortunately it's quite challenging to get the key in and the lock to open even on a brand new set of locks. That being said after a bit of finesse it is openable it's still challenging.

It does hang down from the top with a little exposure to the latch, however all I did was cement glue a thick piece of rubber on the bottom & its nice & snug now

Trailer Door Lock

If you have an enclosed trailer with thousands of dollars worth of tools and equipment inside; this is the padlock you need. Beefy, sturdy... I am pretty confident thieves will look elsewhere, it will take some time to get rid of this padlock. A little pricey but when you compare with other padlocks; it is a no brainer. Bonus: it is made in Canada.

My AMP LOCK won't unlock. What should I do?

  1. Verify your key: Ensure your key has "REAL" engraved on it.
  2. Check how far the key turns:
  • The key should turn ¾ of a turn to unlock.
  • If it only turns ¼ of a turn, check if the key is damaged or incorrect.
  • If the key turns between ¼ and ¾ of a turn, lubricate the lock with a non-silicone-based lubricant and use compressed air to remove debris.
  • If the key turns more than ¾ of a turn or rotates fully, contact AMP LOCK or a locksmith, as the internal mechanism may be damaged.
