The hitch pin and lock housing is made of solid stainless steel. I did plenty of research looking for a heavy duty locking pin and nothing out there even comes close. I was hesitant to spend $99.00 but it's protecting thousands of dollars in equipment. Small price to pay and very happy.

Incredible hitch lock overall. I knew this was going to a big lock but it was even heftier than I thought. Lock and unlocking was very easy and you can tell this lock was built with quality. I was hesitant to spend $100 on just a lock but wanted as much security as possible for my B&W Tow & Stow hitch.

I purchased the 'AMPLock U-HLP58 Hitch Lock' from Amazon on 18 September 2018, and while it has been finicky at times, I did like it. Occasionally, it was hard to remove the key, but I guess it ensures the lock is engaged, or so I thought. I noticed the new DOES lock when the critical head/plunger is pushed in without having to turn the key, so I'm baffled. However, if the safety pin is not fully inserted, the lock head may fall off. The manufacturer includes a warning sticker that absolves any responsibility if the cotter pin is not used or missing.On 7 December 2019, I installed it with care, but when I returned home, I noticed the lock assembly head (the part with the key) was missing. The pin was barely engaged, and if I had driven a few more minutes, it would have fallen out. The cotter pin was also gone, and this is the second time I found it missing. The first time I figured that someone stole it but twice seemed coincidental. I mean, it doesn't seem to be anything special, and it isn't all that visible.My confidence in this lock is suspect, but it is the best fit I could find for my application. I ordered a new one immediately, and it cost me dearly.

Yes, you can order AMP LOCKs that use the same key by selecting the "Keyed alike" option during checkout. If you already own an AMP LOCK and need a new lock to match your existing key, select the "Keyed alike - Use existing key number" option and provide the key information found on your control card or key tag.

Can I order extra keys for my AMP LOCK?

Yes, additional keys can be ordered through our website. You will need your lock's unique key code to request a duplicate. Order additional keys.

My AMP LOCK won't unlock. What should I do?

  1. Verify your key: Ensure your key has "REAL" engraved on it.
  2. Check how far the key turns:
  • The key should turn ¾ of a turn to unlock.
  • If it only turns ¼ of a turn, check if the key is damaged or incorrect.
  • If the key turns between ¼ and ¾ of a turn, lubricate the lock with a non-silicone-based lubricant and use compressed air to remove debris.
  • If the key turns more than ¾ of a turn or rotates fully, contact AMP LOCK or a locksmith, as the internal mechanism may be damaged.
