Ball Coupler Lock - Inverted/Underslung Design

The gentlemen who wrote the first review recommending the use of a chain saw sharpener was spot on. Took about 15 mins, but money. I gave it three stars because the manufacturer could of easily made the slot 1/8 inch longer, not because the lock is cheap or not made well. The lock is secure and I'm impressed with how well it is built.AMPLOCK, please fix so people who don't have these type of skills can use this killer lock.

This is a STOUT lock but the fit is really loose. If it fit a bit better, it would be a 5-star item.

As others have mentioned, this will not fit the inverted coupler on [some?] Jayco trailers. Since there are so few choices on the market, I'll do a little grinding or easing (hammering) to make it fit. Manufacturer could easily resolve this by cutting the lock mechanism guide channel 1/16 longer or the lock pin 1/16 shorter.

I bought this for a 2021 Jayco 22RB. Looks real beefy. This is really the only secure lock that uses a Abloy style lock that is difficult to pick. Most of the other cheaper options are crappy locks, easily picked. Problem here is the fitment. I don't know if it is the tight tolerances AMPLOCK used or bad testing when they designed it. Essentially the locking plunger doesn't go low enough to clear the lip welded on the hitch from Jayco. It is possible Jayco isn't consistent on this welded portion that is added to the underside of the hitch to make a more rounded receiver. I send photos of the issue to AMPLOCK who didn't have much input and referred to the measurement of the width for proper fitment. It should have been clear by the photo it was the HEIGHT that was the issue. Maybe something happens between the French and English translation but it's more likely related to a non-mechanical person working in customer service to help on a small mechanical issue.I had even suggested a couple of ideas as a solution and wanted their best suggestion. I got an offer to return the item.For a $200 item, I expected a bit more customer service to ensure their product worked. But I guess since Amazon was footing the bill and would likely take the hit for it's return, it wasn't a big deal.I really wanted something secure for my trailer and this is nearly the only option, so I modified the hitch by grinding about a 1/16 inch from the welded addition to the bottom of the hitch so the locking plunger would fit under. The lock can also be taken apart rather easily to grind away 1/16th of the locking plunger if you want to go that route.

Wish there wasn’t so much play after mounting to the hitch. But nonetheless I’m glad I finally found a hitch lock to fit my new jayco white hawk!
